The Branches of Sin are the powers each Deadman has, allowing them to use their own blood in order to achieve incredible powers, the likes of which can hardly be imagined by the average human. Usually, the Deadman can train his powers, to better understand how to use them or perhaps be more conservative with them; after all, if one were to use their powers too much, they may die of blood loss, a fate nobody wants. Various forms of this power exist, from creating blades to shooting bullets to even making whips; who knows what sort of other powers may exist?
Each ability is recognized according to a Tier System, this helps to explain how strong and the sort of characteristics they can have. The Tier System uses a Letter Rank; D, C, B, A and S Rank. Each Rank has its own description going from lowest to highest, meaning D-Rank are the weakest and simplest abilities where as S-Rank are the strongest and most amazing abilities.
In Deadman Wonderland: Redemption, each Deadman has their own Branch of Sin which allows for various abilities according to their BoS (Branch of Sin). The abilities act like techniques that they can use and so they must be relevant to the users Branch of Sin so for example if your Branch of Sin utilizes ranged attacks, then you can only have ranged abilities.
In the template you will see; Branch of Sin Name, Branch of Sin Description and Branch of Sin Abilities. These shall now be explained in further detail. The Branch of Sin Name is what the name of your Branch of Sin is, for example Senji Kiyomasa's Branch of Sin is called Crow Claw - however we use it as an example for an ability. The name can be anything you wish, although it should tie in with your BoS's abilities. The Branch of Sin description is where you describe in as much detail as possible what your Branch of Sin can do - what you can do with it - this helps to understand what sort of abilities your character can use.
The Branch of Sin Abilities is where you list your characters BoS Abilities using the following template;
Name: (The name of the ability, usually in the form of BoS Name: Ability Name)
Rank: (What Rank is the Ability?)
Description: (What is the ability? What does it do?)
When you create a character, original or cannon, they can only start with a maximum of 3 D-Rank Abilities OR 1 C-Rank Ability. You can acquire or even upgrade existing Branch of Sin abilities by spending Cast Points.

{Ability Ranks-Spoiler}{Ability Ranks}D-Rank- D-Rank Abilities are the weakest and most simplest forms of the Branch of Sin, these abilities are hardly ever used in combat and so they serve no real purpose in regards to combat effectiveness. These abilities are also quite simple, they don't use much blood and are only used to show-off mainly. When using these abilities the user doesn't suffer much exhaustion, and so they receive a penalty of -2 Stamina for two posts due to loss of blood. An example of this Rank would be something like simple blood manipulation, say to make a small orb of blood.
C-Rank- C-Rank Abilities are a step up from D-Rank, these are where the abilities start to have combat effectiveness. Whilst they are still simple they are mostly used during combat, widely used amongst most Deadmen they serve as both distractions and weapons. When using a C-Rank Ability the user suffers a penalty of -4 Stamina for two posts due to loss of blood. An example of this Rank would be a simple type of attack such as the Ganta Gun, a bullet made of blood.
B-Rank- B-Rank Abilities are where combat comes alive, these are purely combat effective abilities ranging from melee to ranged attacks. These are strong and somewhat interesting abilities, these are generally saved for the grand finale sort of attack. When using a B-Rank Ability the user suffers a penalty of -7 Stamina for two posts due to loss of blood. An example of this Rank would be a an interesting attack such as the Crow Claw a scythe of blood emerging from the forearm and is as strong as steel.
A-Rank- A-Rank Abilities are the second strongest type of abilities, powerful and rather amazing they are a Deadmans second best weapon. Although they are powerful they do have some more serious drawbacks to the user and so they are not widely used all the time. These abilities even have some rather interesting side affects as well, although they don't generally cause other effects A-Rank is where they start to come into play. When using an A-Rank Ability the user suffers a penalty of -12 Stamina for three posts due to loss of blood. An example of this Rank would be the Nanairo Chōchō, blood with poison that causes the person effected to hallucinate.
S-Rank- S-Rank Abilities is the most deadly type of ability, and not only to the target. These are most powerful and most amazing abilities that you will ever see - if you are still alive afterwards that is. With a large potential of abilities and effects these are considered the 'Final Attack' and are only to be used as a last resort in most cases. When using an S-Rank Ability the user suffers a penalty of -20 Stamina for four posts due to loss of blood. An example of this Rank would be the Love Labyrinth, the ability to copy every Branch of Sin, by simply drinking its blood or even the Invisible Black, a cutting technique that Senji uses to create a large scythe-like blade at the top of his right hand, instead of his forearms, and slices the target to pieces at the speed of sound.
Note: The penalties for using Branch of Sin do stack if used repeatedly, for example using a C-Rank Ability straight after a D-Rank results in -6 Stamina for four posts.
